We’re a New Zealand company that wants to do right by our community. So, we believe if you can lend a helping hand, you should.

For us, help can take many forms. From partnerships with nationwide charities like Plunket, to donating chocolate, to providing ways to fundraise for your cause. Just expect a dash of Whittaker’s along the way. Like a nation-wide Easter Egg hunt or Limited Edition flavour collaboration with someone special!

Pink chocolate for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation

In 2012 we partnered with five Samuel Marsden high school students to raise money for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation. As part of the Young Enterprise scheme, they developed and sold their own White Raspberry Chocolate block under the company name ‘Pink’.

It was our most successful product launch ever at the time, raising $70,000 for the cause and helping a group of young Kiwis gain hands-on business experience.

We got behind the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation again in 2013. This time with our special Milk Strawberry block, raising more than $75,000 for continuous medical education.

Creating New Zealand’s biggest Easter Egg hunt

Us Kiwis love a good treasure hunt! So in 2014 and 2015 we hid 100 giant eggs across New Zealand to raise money for Starship Hospital.

Using our special Big Egg Hunt app, Chocolate Lovers could find them and win prizes, like an 18-carat gold Whittaker’s Slab, or a Whittaker’s Wabbit gold necklace crafted by Partridge Jewellers.

The hugely popular event raised more than $435,000 for Starship and showcased a range of local artists and designers whose work featured on the eggs.

Thanking New Zealand’s Lockdown Legends

In early 2020, we found ourselves in a situation we had never experienced before: dealing with a global pandemic. Then, in March, New Zealand went into a six week lockdown to stop the spread of COVID-19.

During this tough time, our essential services organisations went above and beyond to keep communities safe and healthy. So we wanted to find a way to say thank you.

We created a Lockdown Legends Gift Registry where Chocolate Lovers could nominate essential services to receive a Whittaker’s care package. During April and May we delivered over 480 packages throughout the country, sending a bit of chocolate comfort to as many as we could.

It was an extraordinary time and our communities would not have gotten through without our essential services. Thank you again for your incredible – and ongoing – contribution, Lockdown Legends.
