Whittaker's DIY Christmas Crackers
Create personalized Christmas crackers to elevate your table this festive season. Simply print our template and use materials you have at hand such as paper shopping bags or old notebook covers or print the template on card and design your own with paint, water colours, or ribbons. Follow the steps below to cut, fold, decorate and assemble your crackers.
Materials:
- Printer
- Scissors
- Glue or double-sided tape
- Cracker snaps (optional - available from Waste Free online)
- Decorative ribbons or string
- Your choice of fillings (We recommend Whittaker's Chocolate Pods for a premium cracker!)
Instructions:
Step 1: Print the Template
Download and print the cracker template here in the landscape orientation on an A4 sheet of paper. Ensure your print settings are set to 100% scale for the perfect size.
Step 2: Cut the Outline
Carefully cut along the solid lines of the template. Skip the diamond-shaped cuts for now and leave those until later.
Step 3: Fold the Creases
Fold along the dotted lines to form the shape of your cracker. These creases will guide you in shaping the cracker.
Step 4: Cut the Diamonds
Once the creases are folded, gently press the folded triangles into place. This will allow you to cut the diamond shapes along the edges of your cracker.
Step 5: Design your Cracker
Now that you have your base, it's time to get creative! You can paint, draw, or leave the design minimal for a sleek, modern look.
Step 6: Fill your Cracker
Choose you fillings - whether small gifts or treats. We recommend filling yours with Whittaker's Chocolate Pods for a deliciously indulgent touch.
Step 7: Add the Snap (Optional)
If you'd like your cracker to make a pop, add a cracker snap. Lay the snap strip along the centre of the cracker, securing it with tape on either side.
Step 8: Seal with Glue or Tape
Appy glue or double-sided tape along the designated section to seal the cracker. Roll up the cracker with your fillings inside, and press the ends together to form its shape.
Step 9: Tie with Ribbon
Finally, use ribbon or string to tie each of your cracker through the diamond-shaped cut-outs. This adds a lovely, polished finish.
With your beautiful DIY Christmas crackers now ready to brighten your summer table, you're all set.
